Next select the "Find a Provider" link in the left margin. You can search by several criteria, including location, languages spoken, specialty and hospital affiliation.

In addition to NetBenefits, you can search for a doctor on your insurance carrier's Web site. Links to the carrier Web sites are available on NetBenefits under the "Health & Insurance" tab. Select the "Who to contact" link at the bottom of the page.

Consider 401(k) changes
If you are participating in the 401(k) savings plan, you might want to change your contribution rate or begin contributing to the plan. TI's 401(k) plan can help you build financial assets for the future. Use the "Savings & Retirement" tab in NetBenefits* for all your 401(k) needs.

The first 60 days (after adoption)
You have 60 calendar days after adoption to:

  • Add your new dependent to your health and life insurance. If you miss this deadline, you must wait to add coverage for the new child until the next annual enrollment period or until you have another qualified change in status.
  • Increase your election in the health care flexible spending account.
  • Add or increase your election in the dependent day care flexible spending account.

Update your new dependent's benefit information using NetBenefits*. Select the "Health & Insurance" tab and then select the "What to do when life events" link.  Select the "Adoption" life event to make your benefit elections. To update your elections by phone, call HR Connect at 888-660-1411 and select the option for the TI Benefits Center.

Well-baby/well-child immunizations
Make sure your new child is current on his or her immunizations. Many health insurance plans cover childhood immunizations. For information on BlueCross/Blue Shield immunization coverage and the immunization schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Academy of Family Practice Physicians and the U.S. Task Force for Preventive Services, refer to the Live Healthy* site.

If Blue Cross/Blue Shield is not your carrier, contact your carrier directly for immunization coverage and the immunization schedule. Links to the carrier Web sites are available on NetBenefits* under the Health & Insurance tab. Select the "Who to contact" link at the bottom of the page.

Adoption reimbursement
TI will reimburse a portion of eligible expenses for a legally recognized adoption. Information and the application form for reimbursement are on the Adoption page on the TI Work-Life intranet.

Update tax deductions (W-4)
Adding a new dependent can result in income tax consequences; therefore, you should consider updating your W-4 deductions. To review your W-4 and/or make changes, use the W-4 tax information tool*. There is also a federal tax estimator* available to help you estimate the effect of any changes in withholding elections on your net paycheck. These tools can also be found on my.ti.com > My Tools. If you have signed up for MyPay, you can model your W-4 changes using the MyPay what-if tool available from the MyPay* page.

Adoption leave
TI provides up to two weeks of paid time off for TIers (fathers and mothers) who adopt a child. In addition, adoptive parents qualify for unpaid Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave up to 12 weeks, including the paid leave. Information on job protected leave for adoption placement of a child with a TIer through the FMLA is available on the Occupational Health & Time Loss Management (OH&TLM) Web site.

Update beneficiaries
You might wish to designate your new child as a primary or secondary beneficiary of your life insurance or investment plans as allowed by the plan rules. You can make this change at any time on NetBenefits*, but doing so at the same time you update your health insurance may keep you from forgetting to do so later.

Also consider adding your child as a beneficiary on any life insurance or investment accounts you maintain outside of TI's benefit plans. To update your beneficiaries online*, select the Your Profile tab and then select the "Beneficiaries" link.  Follow the step-by-step process to update beneficiaries for your insurance and investment options. To update your beneficiaries by phone, call HR Connect at 888-660-1411 and select the option for the TI Benefits Center.

Contact Social Security
